"Year Of The Snitch" - Death Grips

An incredibly enjoyable listen even though I only like a handful of songs

Year Of The Snitch is the most recent Death Grips album as of this review. The album is catchy, Heavy and with highlights which I love a lot. But while listening to the whole album, there were many songs which I didn't really like all that much for the most part but usually always had at least something to it that made it impossible to say it was "bad"

The first song of the album is the song "Death Grips Is Online" an amazing banger of an intro. It's exciting with so many different chapters and each chapter being as great as the last. Then we have the song "Flies" Which I found to be a pretty eh track for me but then there's the transition from "Flies" and the next song "Black Paint" and I love it so much, The transition feels like they went high up onto a diving board and cannonballed into the song "Black Paint" and gives it a highter splash. The song "Black Paint" is a great track with heavy guitar and drums and it again turns into different chapters and each chapter feeling as good as the last. The song "Hahaha" starts off kind of eh but then the chorus is so cool that It made me like the track, the "hahaha bitch" with the major chord guitar just adds something to the track that without it, I wouldn't like the song as much. As soon as "Dilemma" starts it just immedietly sounds great with the fast changing lead and then when the chorus hits it gets even better with the heavy guitars again. Death Grips always make something amazing with a guitar. The song "The Fear" starts off sounding just...weird but then the chorus hits and it's SO GOOD. That's something that happens a lot with Death Grips. If the song isn't good then there's a big change there's a part of the song that saves it.

But that doesn't always happen. No song on this album is really BAD. Every Death Grips song has a lot to it and the amount of detail is always present and a big part of why Death Grips is so great. The song "Flies" I just didn't really enjoy for the most part and then there's the song "Streaky" which I just don't enjoy listening to. It never really picks up and just sort of sounds boring to me.

I only love 5 songs on this album but it's not like every other song is bad, I just didn't really like them. There's better Death Grips albums out there so with all that being said. I'm going to give "Year Of The Snitch" by Death Grips an
