"Micro Beats To New Year" - Samlrc

Samlrc is the most underrated artist I've ever heard. Her last record "Sam Is Offline_" is the best instrumental album I've ever heard with incredible variety in sound and amazingly polished visuals. "Micro Beats To New Year" is more of a mixtape rather than a full project by the sound of things. The EP is 6 songs which are very different from each other but quality wise it's very consistent.

The EP is full of vocal samples, Breakcore production but also surprisingly amazing jazz production as well. The first track is "Samlrc in 2022" a great breakcore track with some eurobeat spliced in as well. The Production is great and the crazy synth near the middle is amazing. It's a great start to the EP, It's the closest to "Sam Is Offline_" with it even ending the way a song off of "Sam Is Offline_" would. The next song "Girls Online" is a pretty track with vocal chops and this sick guitar squeel as the beat drops. The song is just great and I could see myself just listening to it in a casual setting. "Late Night Drive" starts off with this reverbed piano and then transforms into this awesome breakcore track with a vocal sample and rising synth, I'm not too crazy about the beginning since the vocal sample sounds awkward but everything around it is really spectacular and far from awkward.

The song "Adhd Knuckles" is both my least favorite and favorite track of the song. The song starts off with this rap sample and it sounds like a goosebumps, halloween special with this glockenspiel but then the song does get better once the hard beat kicks in but then this trumpet starts playing and it's just all over the place. It sounds bad and on first listen I was like "oh no this song aint good" but then the song switches from this goosebumps rap to an INSANELY GOOD JAZZ SONG WITH RAP OVER IT. The jazz part of this song is my absolute favorite off this record and I'm really baffled as to how sam was able to make the jazz sound so authentic. The next song is "Love Theme" and this is the most consistently amazing song off the EP. The song samples the same song as "AFTER YOU" by Kanye West and it was awesome to hear the sample used in a different way and this version is spectacular. The song is great the whole way through and then this crunchy guitar kicks in and it's even better. The track is the song "Another Christmas". The song is this calm and jazzy song with more vocal samples and trumpets. Sam went into this new direction and really just knocked it out of the park. The jazz songs are amazing and the production is killer like always.

The EP isn't perfect with the vocal in "Late Night Drive" feeling awkward and I don't really like the first half of "Adhd Knuckles" especially with that insane trumpet but all in all this EP is great with crazy good production and a step into an exciting new sound for sam which was executed here wonderfully.
